MGA has always tried to negotiate market-leading cover for our clients, and we’re pleased to introduce our latest offering, an exclusive commercial motor insurance via our insurer partners, Millennium Underwriting and Zurich Australia. The new scheme is available only to MGA clients, across all of our trade industries.

Our exclusive commercial motor insurance features and benefits

Underwritten by Millennium Underwriting Agency, which is backed by Zurich – one of the largest insurers globally, this cover has some very unique benefits that we’re excited to share. For example:

  • Automatically includes up to $7,500 worth of unspecified accessories, up to 40% of the market value of the vehicle (this has increased by $2,500 from our previous scheme). Accessories like canopies, roof racks and the like can add up quickly, so this can be very helpful.
  • Excess free windscreen replacement
  • Hire car following an accident of up to $5,000.
  • Tool cover (where there’s no other policy in place) of up to $3,000 in the event of theft of the vehicle or damage in an accident.
  • Mechanical breakdown cover of up to $2,000 for new vehicles that are less than five years old and travelled less than 100,000 kilometres.
  • Choice of repairer
  • Sign writing cover.
  • Cover for unlisted drivers (as long as they’re licensed to drive your vehicle).
  • 25% discount from standard rates available to the market.
  • In-house claims service at Millenium Underwriting.

Another interesting benefit compared with most direct insurer wordings is that if your driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during an incident, the policy wouldn’t respond, but our cover (as long as the business owner wasn’t aware that their driver would be driving under the influence) will still cover the business owner.

And lastly, in the event of a complex claim, you’ve got both your insurance broker and a dedicated MGA Claims Officer to help you through any challenges.

There is still a duty of care that a contractor has to a subcontractor just as they do an employee when it comes to injury to contractors. Even if they have their own work cover, the schemes have the ability to recover costs due to negligence.

Tradies – do you understand your import risks?

Did you know – in the eyes of your insurance, if you import products and supplies versus sourcing them locally, you are likely to be considered the ‘manufacturer’ and assume the risk associated to the performance of that product.

Could your biggest risk be small print?

What we’re seeing more and more from the insurance market is the exclusion of cover for work in buildings higher than two storeys, due to a large number of significant water damage claims in recent years.
